Who's Who from Detachment A-223 (Van Canh) (Partial Draft)

The following is a listing of all personnel in our database, assigned to Detachment A-223 (Van Canh). Narrative Information: A5/3 opened the old Vanh Canh camp o/a/ 9/9/62 in 8/63 it was turned over to ARVN marines whot it shortly thereafter in an NVA sweep of the valley. Van Canh was reopened in 4/65 by personnel from A1/321B. The first PCS Detachment A7/4 took over the new Vanh Canh camp from A1/213, 1st SFG(A) o/a 1/1/66. It was redesignated A-223. Van Canh was closed 1/10/68 and the CSF were brought to B-22, Qui Nhon, just in time to perform heroically during the Tet Offensive. Around 8/68?? two companies of the Van Canh strikers were brought to Kontum and became the nucleus of the 4th Bn, II CTZ MSF (see A-204). Vanh Canh was located in Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh Province.
